Took our dog in on 10/16/17 due to him getting sick and not maintaining his balance afterwards. They brought a stretcher to get him from the truck and I had to tell the man twice I would get him because he was trying to drag him from the truck. Very unprofessional to me because the dog was sick and scared. 1 1/2 hour wait we were seen. Xrays showed food matter, gas and a little solid matter. Prescribed him an anti nausea pill, gasx, and pumped about a half gallon of fluid on his side. Follow up call 10/18/17 from them, tried to explain to them I didn't give him the anti nausea because he needed to throw up. Was very rudely told "If the doctor prescribed it you need to give it to him". Needless to say Goose passed away 10/18 during emergency surgery to relieve fluid buildup at the VCA in Abington, Va from cardiac arrest. He was only 4 yrs old. Make this place an absolute last resort. Update: sent them my number and have yet to here from "the owner". There reply is bogus to make them look conserned.

  • We took our dog Buddy to the emergency clinic on Sunday evening as he had a 2 inch gash on his front leg from chasing after a resident woodchuck. He was seen right away and evaluated. Fortunately the cut was not down to the bone as we thought. They said he needed to be sedated as he probably would not let them staple his skin back together without being sedated and we understood that without a problem. We were asked if we wanted an estimate of the cost, but we did not. We wanted our dog fixed. He was stapled together and back to us in about 40 minutes! He was happy and they gave us antibiotics for him and said we could return there in 10-14 days to have the staples removed at no extra charge or take him to our own vet. We will return to them to have them removed. Hopefully nothing else will happen that we need an ER but we would without hesitation take any of our animals there. They were very professional and caring. Thank you to the staff at the clinic.

Undignified and unprofessional experience with end of life treatment for our cat of 19 years. No pet or owner should be treated this way. There are better choices in the High Country for your pet's care.

  • The emergency vet is not our normal vet, but they're the only clinic in the area that will put down rodents. We have taken 3 of our 4 rats there to put them to sleep in their old age, and the entire staff was kind, efficient, and sensitive. During our last visit, the vet tech made a little box coffin and taped it with red medical tape for our rat and a little heart with his name in it — it was the sweetest and cutest thing ever. I believe the tech's name was April? Kudos to her and to the other awesome staff at the emergency & pet care clinic.
